S.O.A.R. was created by Jean Blachowski and her daughter, Amy. Jean's son is 31 years old and has autism and a developmental disability. Amy's son is 4 and has autism and sensory processing disorder. Jean has over 30 years of experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities. During her working career and personal experience, Jean found that individuals have limited choices in terms of the types of services and supports available. As a result, S.O.A.R. was designed with the goal of empowering individuals with disabilities to live more fulfilling lives by becoming members of their respective communities through individualized supports and services.
All supports and services are determined by the individuals served, along with their circle of support. The plan is designed to be flexible and driven by what we learn about people with disabilities, what is important to them, and their needs.
